Zebra midges in July?

yeah, real nice Dude.

There is something etheral about using quills, but i don't have the ability or confidence to wrap them that small.

I did read an article in Fly Tyer once by AK who says he uses a different feather in smaller sizes - Turkey flat ? as more flexible, smaller and easier to use.

Not a zebra, but one I've had very good success with. I tie them in 18 & 20. The body is made with dyed polish quill, tungsten bead, and a little bit of peacock dubbing. This one is a size 20

Coated with two or three coats of Sally Hanson's hard as nails to protect the quill.

I tie that same pattern in 18's. I and others have had great luck with it as a dropper off a dry.

How would you even tie that quill? WOW!! Handsome looking fly!

Thanks guys, it is an effective fly to be sure. I have those quills in eight different colors and they all take fish. Just a buggy looking fly. Size 20 zebra midges catch so many fish and big ones too, at first I had a hard time wrapping my head around that fact. Just couldn't see it, drop em off a larger nymph and nymph as usual.
