Your "loadout"

Work random samples and some employees are more random than others, so I'll stick to coffee. Besides, the parking lot is so crowded at the local dispensary that I can't even get in the door.

Sounds like most stuff has been covered and probably depends on the type of fishing you do. One thing I’ll add if you go out for longer lengths of time is a few q-tips. They’re great for removing ticks, especially the smaller ones that are barely visible. Just wet the tip and rotate counterclockwise around or with gentle pressure on top of the tick. Sounds silly but works. Removed 2 a few weeks ago off my son that were the size of a pinpoint.

I keep them in a ziplock with toilet paper, lighter and a few bandaids.

Trying to think of some lightweight things that haven’t been listed that I like to have. Tums and ibuprofen and a couple packets of yellow French’s mustard for cramps and some of those cheap Walmart lens cleaning clothes for the sunglasses, also double as a wound cleaner. A couple 25 cent slim Jim’s. Also wrap a Bic lighter in a few wraps of duct tape for quick tinder.

A couple of things I can think of that I always have and use (with the exception of the fire starter) in my typical trout fishing set-up that may not have been mentioned:

A Swiss Army knife (your choice) with tweezers, scissors, a saw blade & corkscrew mandatory, but the corkscrew is not for what you think. Inside of that corkscrew I have these.
A lighter that uses lighter fluid. In my case vintage Scripto Vu lighters so I can quickly check the fluid level before I leave the car.
A small flask with whiskey.
Cigars, double as insect and annoying person repellent.
A bandanna around my neck.
A small clip-on flashlight on my visor and I'll add a proper headlamp at the time of year I am still fishing after dark.
A hook hone.
A very small small crocheting needle for picking knots out of thread furled leaders or other leader sections. I cut the needle handle down and stash it in a narrow plastic vial.
A small pen and tablet.
EXTRA bottle of Frog Fanny.
A very small 3" metal ruler with a metric scale for measuring bugs I capture and some of my fish. 😉
A few Band Aids.
A few aspirin.
One of those cheapo throwaway rain ponchos because I almost never carry a proper rain jacket.
Something with a pin like a license holder, license button or a safety pin.
A 357 magnum (a 9mm was mentioned 😉 )
Soap leaves and extra Eco-friendly paper towels (which doubles as TP) for washing up after using my TP as TP. I also usually have a few moist hand wipes.
While some of you may be whistling at fish, my usual non-angling activity is taking a dump...

Do some of you actually carry a pistol while fishing? Where do you keep it if you have waders on? I couldn't imagine lugging one around in my vest and if you have it on a holster under your waders by the time you get to it it's probably too late.

Additions to above:

Sunscreen transferred to a smaller bottle. Anymore once at the car isn't sufficient for me.

Insect repellent.

Rubber band on a D ring for drying flies, and a few spares if that breaks.

I almost never wear chest waders and almost always wet wade so it is in a holster on my gear belt.

IF I have an occasion to wear chest waders it would be on my wading belt or I have a gizmo that will allow me to carry a holster on my suspenders.

I've picked up some pretty small tubes and even stick versions of sunscreen at Walmart so I don't have to transfer. I have them in every set-up.

Loadout is an interesting term. I only remember one other fella ever using that term here. He was a very quiet guy

I carry a Taurus 850 CIA Total Titanium .38 Special revolver in a vest pocket when I'm fishing remote brook trout streams. It weighs well under 16 oz and is very compact. It's quickly accessible and you don't know it's there.

I've been attacked by a rapid raccoon and a rabid ground hog in the last ten years, and have had several close encounters with black bears.

Whiskey and a gun. Sounds like a winning combo.

I find myself carrying more and more off a stream but on stream a Judge and a Swiss Army knife as well. In the vehicle 5 minute epoxy, superglue, clear electrical tape and duct tape.

LOL.

You haven't actually bought Slim Jims lately have you?

No sir I have not…………..

I’ve got plenty 😉

After googling it, it seems it is your marijuana cigarette for your fishing journey.

It seems that for many years I was an avid fish whistler and I just never knew it. That is a new term for me.

The only psychoactive chemical I partake in these days is caffeine. Someday I'm gonna give that one up, too..
Oh - then I've been whistling to these fish for a while now.

Abide.

Your list is great. And as many have said, you won’t miss out with just that list alone. I only add a few more some functional and some just for me.

Cigar
Lighter
Sunglasses
Wading Staff depending on water
Water bottle
Oooooooooh yeah - cigar, cutter, torch. Let's not forget the good friends who colorfully recall your taking an unintended dip in the drink or inflating their fish stories
