Calling all fisherman of the Youghiogheny River. All rivers have colors that are favored for the area. What would you think about this river when it comes to its flies?

Color or fly? If fly, what type of fly?

In my opinion, the fish (at least the risers) have become pretty selective in a match the hatch situation...

The variety of bug life has expanded greatly of the past few decades... The fish key in on anything from midges and micro caddis up to various big drakes and iso's.

It's a fun, but frustrating, river with lot's of fishable water.

Ok so I guess I need to add I'm fishing streamers so that's the reason for the color question.

Brown over white, white and red have worked for me in Yough below Smithton. Really depends on what your fishing for also.

If the water is stained try black or chartreuse; if the water is clear, more natural colors like green, light brown, or silver are often good.

Stunned or dead alwive streamer patterns.
