Buying a new rod, I have a chinsy 8' 6" 5 wt and a 7' 6" 3 wt. What would be a good addition to my arsenal if most of my fishing would be at the yellow breeches

Either one is plenty for the Breeches. Now of course if you just need an excuse to buy another rod, a 8'6" 4wt would be good choice!

Try something longer, it helps with line control, but as mentioned above both the rods you have are fine for the breeches.

If you don't like the 8' 6" 5 wt you have, sell it and by a 9 ft, 5 wt.

You already have a small stream rod.

With those 2 rods you'd be OK to fish any trout stream in PA.

Rig up a line and leader you typically use, then cast various rods with them. Buy one that suits you.

switch rod, preferably an 11'6"

I was kidding about the x. Get a solid 905 if you feel youve outgrown the 865 you have.

If you like softer stuff i think you cant do wrong with a Winston. If you like faster stuff you can probably find a good deal on a Hardy Zenith.
