What rod for Salmon? NY Salmon river

I was too late but would have suggested an ugly stick. Kings + SR = exploded rods pretty often. Tighten your chin strap

I saw the ugly stik fly rods online, but I wasn't too sure about them. I didn't even know they made fly rods until I was looking for a heavier weight fly rod

I would suggest tying your rig on to a small kid on a bike and have them ride away from you as fast as they can.

Should help you adjust the drag.

Drags are overrated. A smooth payout is all you need. You'll be using 10-12# test for Salmon I'd assume. A palm on the side of the reel works fine for me, not only in the SR, but on much bigger water as well.

Bruno is right, it does feel like a small kid on a bike though.

Weeheehee! It's almost time! Fish are in the river (if you believe the DSR reports). I've broken two Cabelas LSTs up there, trying out a Fenwick HMG this year, hopefully I do not have to resort to my backup uglystik again...

Headed up next Thursday. As Krayfish said "tighten your chinstraps"!!

How would a glass rod work ?

it would work fine if it's sized adequately.
