What Are You Tying Today?

Size 12 yellow Humpy. Proportions are fairly screwed up, with the wings not set quite right and severely over hackled. It’s been an extremely long time since I tied one of these challenging flies.

Danny's Special

Streamers365 - Vol 3 - Darren MacEachern

Author's Note

Dan Legere was taught to tie under the watchful eye of his father and was encouraged to experiment with designs of his own. The pattern was created and tested on Maine's Mousam Pond and Square Pond and proved to be successful with the resident brown trout. Dan's parents later tested the streamer in
Northern Maine's famous Moosehead Lake and other regional lakes. Dan's creation again came through successfully, this time in pursuit of landlocked salmon and brook trout. Dan originally tied the streamer in a tandem hook configuration and a large sized 'A' thread was used to create the body rather than floss.

A bunch of my buddies are primarily spinner and bait fisherman. This will be our 27th annual trout trip up to Pine Creek. They swear by (and do quite well with) a black Rooster Tail with a silver blade. I’ve kept saying I was going to come up with a fly version of it, and finally threw one together tonight. Should be fun to give it a go on Pine.

One of the more productive tying sessions I've had in a while.
Added a few fresh #16 sulphur sparkle compara duns and EP duns.
A few more #18 Baetis nymphs, and some #14-16 Grannom and Apple caddis dries.
I have a couple lazy fly mooching buddies so I need to tie a lot. LOL
They're gonna be shocked when these are $8.99 each on the water! 😂
