Going to make some for gills this spring and summer .Tying up a few for the carp box. This is one of my own patterns that is an absolute confidence carp fly for me. Looking back at my carpin’ log over the past 10 years, I’ve put 40 carp in the net with this pattern. If I can present this fly into “the zone” in front of an actively feeding carp there is a very good chance the fish will eat it.
It’s my PMC nymph (Pheasant, Mink & Crow). Tail is pheasant marabou, body & head is mink fur tied in with a dubbing loop, the collar is a crow covert soft hackle feather. Medium black bead chain eyes tied on a Daiichi 1530 size 6. All natural earth toned materials with lots of movement - no flash or glue.

I used to tie that and it caught me a lot of fish at certain times. I need to tie a few for this year. That’s a good looking fly nice job 👍
You can see why a tan and black bugger or any bugger tied with variegated chenille works so well. My Sinnemahoning go to:I only tied up two of these. I’ve only used hellgrammites for trout once, but they are like “crack” for bass. We’ll see how these do and I’ll tie up some more if the trout like ‘em!View attachment 1641239562View attachment 1641239563
You mean something like these Rubber Legs? 🤔. I don’t know offhand where my bugger boxes are just now, but as Tom says these same variegated chenille colors can be used on them as well.Variegated chenille works well for stoneflies in the right colors. Tie in some rubber legs and you have a simple effective fly.
