I can’t remember if I showed this fly here before or not, as I tied this a couple months ago and had it in my fly box.). However, I tied this fly on this afternoon for the first time, after trying several other flies unsuccessfully, and immediately began sticking some feesch. (Excuse me if it looks somewhat chewed up, because it was.)

Also known as the Steelhead McGinty. This is a variation of an old wet-fly pattern.

My Euronymph sulfur. The body is that stretchy D-ribbing. Seems to be the same materal as the stretch tubing. Supplier didn't have the tibe stuff in this color so i gave it a shot and its what I was after. Its Dark Tan. I put either olive or yellow floss underneath because it should be shinier than threads and give it a depth of color. It didn't make a big difference. Im a sucker for legs (a-hem). I don't have the package the legs came in. They are finer than Grizzly Micro or the Span Flex ones. They stretch more than silicon but they're not spandex. I don't know what they are. I like how this came out. Much faster to tie than the 'anatomically correct fur nymphs I've been tying for over 25 years.

Body - Flat gold tinsel
Hackle - Yellow tied on as a collar and tied back and down
Wing - Dyed gray bucktail tied over the body, with over wings of orange bucktail, then dyed gray bucktail. Each of the three wing portions should be equal
Cheeks - Jungle **** eyes or substitute

This pattern probably originated in British Columbia, in the mid-1940s

Clyde Hoyt originated this pattern in 1940 for summer-run steelhead.
