Anyone have any intel on accessing the DHALO section of WB Wallenpaupack Creek other than the parking lot on the far upper end of the stretch which also appears to be private but allows angler access based on the signs posted? I set out to fish it this past Saturday 3/15/25 afternoon and came to find basically the entire stretch along Pond Rd. POSTED. This was my first time fishing this stretch... I only fished for about 2 hours and was very surprised not to cross paths with any other anglers. Beautiful stretch that I managed to fish in those 2 hours with plenty of water to hold fish, but unfortunately, not a fish to be had, which was rather surprising and disappointing...I had much higher hopes.

It seems as if stocking and spreading out the fish in this stretch is beyond difficult...no easy access points off the road.

I will certainly be back to give it another go, but any feedback on this stretch would be greatly appreciated. Is it worth the time and effort or would other areas or waters in the area offer better opportunity?

Thanks In Advance!

i used to fish it decades ago before all the land was sold and houses were built. it was an awesome little creek with lots of stupid large browns that loved my dry flies. i was bummed when it became posted. not sure how the fishery is now.

It was posted but you fished it anyway or you found an unposted stretch?

Regardless, I'd call the WCO for that area for some intel...

If it is posted it shouldn't be stocked.

I found a parking lot on the far upper end limit of what is shown to be a DHALO stretch of this stream. The parking lot was posted, but it also had signs that clearly read Angler Access permitted(or something along those lines).
The entire stretch of land running along the stream along Pond Rd., downstream of the parking lot is posted AND has DHALO signs.
I found this odd...I am new to the area, relatively new to FFing and simply looking for some direction and feedback from anyone who is familiar.

I do appreciate your response though.

Yes!
My only experience with Lake Wallenpaupack Creek was on an admittedly private section of the creek between Newfoundland and South Sterling. Freeling and Blueberry Hill come to mind, as they were nearby.

This was way back in the 70's, but I remember two things that stuck out in my mind, even today, is that the section of stream me and a buddy fished was owned by a man named James K. Stone, and it was posted as such! As young kids, we were defiant and posted signs didn't mean much to us. I still have the one we took. And, this section was LOADED with wild browns, many of which were good size! It was a trout on every cast, literally! We did keep and eat several of them, which were delicious.

I have no idea if this man's family still owns sections of the creek, but I do recall he/they owned a very large chunk of land in the area at that time. I often wonder if the same quality trout are still in that stream, or at least in that section of the stream?

According to the Wayne County Property Parcel Map, there are two different landowners that own the property on one or both sides of the creek along Section 03 (Delayed Harvest Artificials Only) of the West Branch Wallenpaupack Creek.

Your best option is to call Northeast Regional Law Enforcement and see if the WCO is available or you can leave a message. That office & the WCO will know the circumstances regarding access and stocking.
