What brand of UV resin do you use?

I'm ready to test some of this material on various patterns ranging from quill bodies to terrestrials. I'm interested in applying it as a glossy top coat.

What would you recommend. And any tips or tricks would be appreciated. Thanks.

Lots of info here: http://www.flyfishfood.com/2015/10/uv-resin-shootout.html

I got myself a bottle of Loon Outdoors clear UV finish along with a UV flashlight of the same brand this past Christmas. So far I have been using it to coat my wing cases on nymphs. Works fantastic over pearl flash to give an extra iridescent effect, and cures instantly with a hit of the UV light. I highly recommend it.

I have used Loon in the past with great success but recently bought this pack from Amazon to test out.

I have some ties planned this week to test it on.

I use clear cure goo in hydro. Stuff is great, no tack.

I've also just started using clear cure goo. I got the thin because I wanted it to soak in a bit and even out nicely when rotated a few times. I've been tying up some saltwater stuff and have used it to form heads on Surf Candy flies with really nice results. It is still a little tacky at the end but hitting it with a little alcohol takes all the tackyness away.

I've used both the Loon and CCG. They work and do what they say. I do notice that the loon yellows a bit depending on the material it's used on. I also keep a bottle of sally hansons handy to coat over the resin as I have found both to have a bit of tack to them.

I bought the regular Bug Bond and cure light with an Orvis coupon I have. Pretty tacky after it's cured. Not sure if that is a factor of the cheaper UV torch or just the Bug Bond itself. I've mostly used it to coat wing cases and quill bodies. Going to try the thinner resin like flow or hydro to see how those compare.

I found that after a couple months the Loon didn't seem to harden as well and was tacky. Fresh stuff from the shelf of a highly trafficked store was ok. If you buy it from a small fly shop it may not be fresh.

Also some of these can be affected by freezing temps. So I don't mail order it in the winter.

Bondic. Check it out on Amazon. Super easy to use set up. Will only set you back $20.

crystal uv from silvercreek

best so far

Deer Creek uv resin. Diamond hard, fine, and flex. FYI - I am on the pro team so I am bit biased, but the product does speak for itself.

Deer creek, loon, and CCG are probably the best out there. Ive used loon, and loved it. But the crap is so expensive. I use solarez because of that. I ordered the little tubes of them. Its a massive pain in the butt to use the tubes, but it costs like nothing so i deal with it. I got the torch and resin from feathercraft. Regardless of brand, i still use hard as hull or sally as a final coat. it just saves any hassle of dealing with tack

My spouse purchased 5 Second Fix for me. This is great because it is self contained (dispenser, resin, and light). The resin is very well controlled and works as advertised. I have used Loon and Solarez and this product works as well.

This may be helpful possibly at lower cost.

Just got an order of Tuffleye resin (http://www.wetahook.net/). Saw their stand at Somerset and was very impressed. It's nice that it uses blue light instead of UV light. Same stuff the dentist uses on teeth. Have been using Clear Cure Goo prior to getting this.

Tuffleye has top notch customer service as well!

Loon. I have thick, thin, tack free, fly paint...I like the brand.

+1 Bondic

-1 for bondic. too tacky after curing
