The only steelhead in NY are in the salmon river...

The only trout in NY are in the Delaware River System...

I used to fish the hell out of some of those streams.
Don't forget to stop at Shongo and Scio. Those trout had a very good growing season last year.
Never had much luck on lil' Genny.
The Clear Creek trib to Catt fishes much better later in the season.
