Too weight or not too weight ?

the mallard flanks can be tied in as jay l mentioned or i like to tie 1 on each SIDE of hook , gives it better side to side swim action , i also put a pretty good size ball of ice dubbing behind the wings to make em stand out more to give it more action and to "push' more water , i think the big guys recognize the water dispacement but i could be wrong

I will weight with lead wire and/or add split shot 6 to 8" above the streamer depending on the depth or current. I usually only tie a few weighted because you can always add weight.
