Hello. Today, July 21st, marks the 109th anniversary of Ernest Hemingway's birth. I plan to celebrate his day by reading "Big Two-Hearted River, pts. 1 and 2" as well as the trout fishing scene in "The Sun Also Rises" . . . saltwater fans, of course, have "The Old Man and the Sea" and the sea bass fishing scene in "The Garden of Eden"

Anyone else here, like me, inspired by Ernest Hemingway's fish storytelling?

Although I love the Keys and Saltwater stories, EH never got in my blood. Perhaps I need to read more. I suspect his birthday will draw a lot more attention in Cuba than the US where they consider Papa a native son. His faithful Cuban fishing guide died fairly recently, Gregorio Fuentes, at well over a 100 years of age. Fuentes was something of a celebrity in that country due to his friendship with EH.
