Ants are most prevalent, but most fish will also take the beetle. When beetles get going, like they are right now, you'll notice them around the house, etc
I like to fish hoppers (letort style but on a curved hook) but mainly for fun (bigger flies that you can see, and awesome takes) not b/c they're most effective...
