Tacky fly boxes not holding flies well

Anyone have this issue? I have about half-dozen or better that come un-moored. I think that instead of putting them in hook bend first with the point out, but rather intert them point it so that maybe the hook point pokes in to the holding material. I didn't know if it was just me or mine or not.

I have several of these boxes and they perform well until I get under size 18.
