ramcatt how is that hook on the waddington shank is it wire or heavy mono? also i have seen that the waddington has a gap in it do you wrap your thread all the way to or past the gap?

i rig with doubled-up 14# fireline
wrapped then tripped backed on the shank
coat with zap-a-gap
i go past the gap

some guys won't attach a hook
they use junction tubing instead
run the line through the eye... along the shank.. through the butt then junction tube then the hook

R.Catt, I really like the Intruders. I think that the only reason I've never tied these is the price of the saddle feathers. I know that there are subs but I like the look of the grizzly, a la Ed Ward style. I haven't been tying very long so the proper saddles have been out of my price range since I saw my first Intruder. Even grizzly hen capes are gettin' pricey. I'm assuming that you're spinning the coyote in a loop? They look really good.

Flip, I have the utmost confidence in rabbit flies. The stuff works great. I'm seeing more and more collars made from rubber legs too. Might have to try that.

these are the first intruders in awhile that i've used hackle tips
i was real big on lady amhurst tail fibers... while those aren't cheap... regular ringneck tail work too
i got my hands on some euro-capes/intruder capes (name depends by distributor)... really nice saddle alternative... stiffer and stonger

that batch has no loops anywhere on the fly... everything is tied in reverse

my intruders last year were arctic fox, amhurst fibers, and lots of UV in the mix
5 or 6 loops per fly
(i think i posted these before...oh well)

I have it on good authority that you cannot tie flies, so you clearly stole this photos from someone who can.

(they look good)

Killer stuff as always. Im looking at them on my phone so I cant see every little detail but I love the JC tied in at the butt of some of these. I don't think I've ever seen that before.

I like that they look big but sparse.

I need to get some rhea and lady Amherst. Im dying to do some on Wads.

Good stuff.

thanks
yeah the JC in the butt is an idea stolen from Rob Russell with the older style rigging
not my typical fly, but something fun to try

Ram,

Those things are sick! I don't know if they can be called steelhead flies though, they don't like eggs. Steelhead only eat eggs which I am sure you already knew.

Nice flies Ramcatt-why sick RJ? mean slick?

Youth of America slang Pete.
