Got word today that 10's of thousands of dead fish in the area. Currently and investigation going on to determine cause. Anyone confirm?

Cold water was released apparently. Haven't been over but heard it was many dead carp. I didn't see anything on the news about it so not sure details.

Aw crap.

Thanks for the heads-up. Please keep us informed if more info comes to light.

Thanks Stoneman.

Foxtrapper is correct above: sudden cold water discharge. Estimated toll of 1200 dead fish. DEP will issue fines.

Operational issues pinned as the reason. Unfortunate consequence of the warm water discharge suddenly cooling and shocking the fish that took refuge in the warm canal water. Glad to see it wasn't the entire river though!

It sounds like the canal leading from the plant to the river was the most impacted. I'd imagine that the river itself was impacted less simply due to the amount of water in the river vs the amount coming from the canal.
