I need a new reel to hold 5wt line.

I want a relatively light reel to balance a new high modulus rod.

I have been looking at used ross evolutions and lamson litespeeds.

Any other suggestions. The evolution and litespeeds seem to have high costs for a used reel, but have good reviews.

I pretty much use lightspeeds on ultra light weight winstons. If you are looking at used Evos make sure they are Evo LT if you are looking for light weight. I dont want to be one of those people who say " you should have been here yesterday" but sierra trading post had killer deals on litespeeds when lamson made a tiny change a few months ago.

Do you need a disk drag reel or is a click-and-pawl sufficient? Redington Drift is a nice lightweight clicker for 100 bucks. Orvis has redesigned their Battenkill clicker for around $100 also.

You can't go wrong with either Evolution. The LT has a few more aluminum components than the original and a hair or two lighter. I own just about every Ross USA reel made for the last 20 years and I have never had one fail on me.

The only negative reviews pertaining to Lamsons were with the Konics.
