In a recent post about a large striped bass caught in Nockamixon, Mike writes....
Dave W, that will be Lake Marburg in a few years. The fingerlings stocked there this past summer are already as long as I would expect them to be at the end of two growing seasons. We know that from anglers' photos.
The PFBC has added Marburg to the stocking list for striped bass. For many of us who have long hoped for this, I say "Great decision. It's about time!"
Anyway, it will be interesting to see the results, however, as Mike suggests, growth rates appear excellent based on anecdotal acounts. Marburg, it seems to me, is ideal for SB considering its two-tiered habitat, deep and clean water, and especially the extremely dense populations of gizzard shad and white perch. In a few years, we may have (fingers crossed) a first class SB fishery in SCPA.
I'm excited!
