Happy 2025 Everyone! Lets start out the new year with a fly swap.

The theme, as requested in the last swap is STREAMERS.

Now I don’t know much about streamers but I do know how to use the Post Office so that is how I can participate. What I do know is that this swap could be split into a fresh water streamer and a salt water streamer event. So lets see what everyone wants to tie, and if there is enough interest (at least 6 tyers in each swap), I will gladly run two swaps, one for each water type.

Registration for this swap will close on February 1st or when we reach 10 tyers.
Flies are due in to me by February 21st.

As usual, will follow WWKimba’s (Kim Bowman) usual rules for this swap:

Swap members should remember the basic things needed for a swap:
– your debarbed flies, each with its own toe tag,
– all included in your swap box (might need a bigger box for this swap due to the size of your streamers),
– with a return Self Addressed Stamped Envelope, all included in a sending envelope.
When registration is over, I’ll send you all a gentle reminder via PM.

If you are new to fly swaps or a new tyer you are most welcome to join in the fun. Please don’t be afraid to dive in!!! Let me know and I can help provide you with any assistance you might need. My job is to ensure that your first swap experience is a good one!

Lastly - HAVE FUN!

Any questions…just PM me.

I've never done a swap on this forum so I hope its legit

I'll join in as long as it doesn't go over 10 swappers. If it does I'm out

What would be considered as "Streamers"?

Norm,
This is the second fly swap I have run. We did a Parachute one last fall on PAFF. The thread is still there so you can see that I am legit. Prior to running the last swap, I have participated in several of WWKimba’s swaps over the years on this site and the other site that I see you in. I am following his model and am trying to continue his tradition. My swap will not go over 10 swappers….so at most you only need to tie 9 flies (I don’t keep one).

As for what is a streamer, I think you know better than I. You tie so many beautiful patterns. I’d consider anything from a Wooly Bugger, to a Clouser, to a Grey Ghost a streamer.

If you want to wait a bit and see what others are proposing to tie before jumping in, that is fine with me.

I may be interested in a freshwater swap. Curious, what is a toe tag in relevance to this?
A toe tag is a small piece of paper that has your PAFF handle, fly name, and anything else you want on it. It gets attached to each fly by folding in half and attaching it to the hook. It is important so that when you get your flies back, you can see who tied what.

Little something to generate some more sign ups.

Jim, I enjoyed the last swap (and thank you for continuing to host these) so would you please count me in if it’s for freshwater only? I don’t tie or use really big stuff.

Should we make extra flies for donation like last time?

Streamers are a bit more work so no need for extras this time.
However if you want to tie extras for donation to Project Healing Waters I will make sure they get to them.
