Stockingfoot hip waders

I find hip waders a pain. If it's warm enough I wade bare. If not I use guide pants. Once a hip boot gets filled with water it's a nightmare.
I think your’s is a popular sentiment judging by the lack of hipper availability. I wet wade for smallmouth but feel naked without boots going through the high weeds along a lot of streams trout fishing. They’re the first line of defense against ticks. Easy to see and dispose of them against lighter color boots.

I have thought about pants as another option but worry about them staying up.

I've used the Frog Toggs a few times a year for a couple years now. They work fine and I've had no problems.
If your hip boots are filling with water you either need to use chest waders, fix the holes, or throw them away.
