The next swap theme came from @PatchezMDM. its A SPRING OPENER SWAP. Go-to flies for opening day, for those that celebrate. And since most of us start out nymphing, lets make it a double. What are the two nymphs that you run in tandem on Opening Day?

So lets see what everyone wants to tie. If there is enough interest, I will gladly run two swaps like the streamer swap.

Registration for this swap will close on March 15th if we get 6 participants, or when we reach 10 tyers in total.
Flies are due in to me by Sunday March 30th so that I can have them back to you by opening day, April 5.
I know this is a tight timeline, but we want to be ready for opening day to see who's combination catches fish!

As usual, will follow WWKimba’s (Kim Bowman) usual rules for this swap:

Swap members should remember the basic things needed for a swap:
– your debarbed flies, connected with tippet or line through the hook eye, each with its own toe tag,
– all included in your swap box
– with a return Self Addressed Stamped Envelope, all included in a sending envelope.

When registration is over, I’ll send you all a gentle reminder via PM.

If you are new to fly swaps or a new tyer you are most welcome to join in the fun. Please don’t be afraid to dive in!!! Let me know and I can help provide you with any assistance you might need. My job is to ensure that your first swap experience is a good one!

Lastly - HAVE FUN!

Any questions…just PM me.

And the second fly?
First will be size #12-16 in beadhead, in one of two colors.

The second will be the mini black fly larva in size #18-22 :

(Pictures courtesy of the creator, mine will be uglier).

I think it’s interesting that they taper backwards from nearly everything else I’ve seen.

I will tie a size 14 2x long beaded PTN with gills, and a little fly I call the "special" which is a size 18 lead wrapped, coyote dubbed scud/caddis larvae looking fly.

I'll be tying a fly called "Nuts to Soup" in a size 14 that was taught to be my friend Ron, the owner of Ron's flies in Nicholson, PA. When he taught it to me, he said "80% of the time it will catch 100% of the fish". It is a stimulator nymph that utilizes peacock, pheasant tails, turkey feathers, and soft hackle.

The other fly I will be tying is my best friend's signature fly "Finn's Inch" in a size 18 or 20. I have attached a photo of the inchworm tied by my friend, mine will look something similar.

I have had success with both on opening day and both will probably be tied on my tippet for the first cast of the season!
