I'm turning into a Soft Hackled Fly Addict.

I'm a big fan of soft hackles as well. Those are very nice. I fish soft hackles in the surface with confidence through hatches as much as actual dries. I have had terrific success with them and alot of confidence with them. I've never personally used them for Steel, let us know how they work. Interesting.

I have been doing well on soft hackles for steelhead this year. Have lots of hookups on the swing and the pull out.

I do well with an olive and partridge soft hackle in the spring. Also try caddis green and partridge. Those look great!

Starvin, Are you swinging on PA Steel?

Do you fish them with weight on the line?

Very nice.
Soft hackles were working at Oak Orchard last week.

Chaz, I normally fish with micro split shot, depending on the flow how much, I normally run them below an egg, two split shot between and one above the egg. If they eat a soft hackle ore than once egg comes off and two nymphs go on. And I'm not intentionally swinging them unless I'm fishing a tail out with a friend. I'm getting them dead drift.
