A very simple gray midge pattern that has worked quite well for me:
a size #24-#26 curved caddis hook
sparkly antron post in the center of the hook
wind body of gray 8/0 thread
I do tie some with a parachute dun hackle wrapped around the post, but it's not easy on a fly that size. And a tiny fly like that will will still float OK without the hackle if you apply good floatant
