Sinnemahoning/Portage Contamination Update

Chaz,

I think the problem (or solution depending on how you look at it) goes way beyond the local population and their papers. You'll be preaching to the choir by pelting the Echo with letters. I'd find out where the people who own camps, and fish and hunt there are from. My guess would be that you'd do a lot more good sending those letters to Pittsburgh, Philly, Cleveland and wherever else newspapers if you want people to be educated. If you remember, this whole thing got VERY little press when it happened. It was a month before it showed up in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, a whole 1 1/2 to 2 hrs away.

Problem with re-population is that there are only one or two tribs above Cowley run (where the class A started) before you hit the summit and go over into the Allegheny river watershed. And they look pretty small. Now upstream past Portage creek on the Driftwood branch theres plenty of unaffected water but that gets stocked pretty good. That might be a good place to look for seedlings, as there is some wild trout, but I don't know.
