I am a fan of flies you can tie in about 2 minutes and lose without having any thoughts of anguish. I tie up simple caddis larva like these and on straight shank hooks for that reason. They always catch fish for me as well. First time ever using a hot spot type tungsten bead. Anxious to see if it out performs the typical black, gold, or copper.

I also tie them in a dubbed version wich takes even less time than the vinyl ribbing, or turkey tail.

The cream colored caddis larva is actually a Merriams turkey feather. if you have access to these tail feathers by all means do yourself a favor and pick some up. Love it on BHPT type nymphs as you can get a white tail section and beautiful burgundy body and wing case. I love the color of those feathers.

Definitely a bucket list hunt for me as I am also a die hard turkey hunter.

Nice caddis larvae. I really like the chartreuse and olive vinyl ribbed versions. I'm sure the fish will like them all.

I like those. I might have to try the dubbed version with a caddis green dyed hares mask I have.

Real nice Mike.

I tie them with dubbing and sometimes no wire.

Do you use a dubbing loop or just twist on the dubbing?

Mike and Bob, nice caddis larva.

GenCon

I just twist on the dubbing as well. I want to get into trying dubbing loops but kind of the old if ain't broke don't fix it deal for me.

Nice ties. What sizes are they?

Those are size 14. I tie them in 16 as well. I go with a 2.8mm tungsten bead on 12 and 14 and 2.4 on 16's.

Nice fly. They don't get much simpler. I like simple nymphs for Erie steelhead since the bottom of those creeks steal flies like magnets!

On the vinyl ribbed ones what size type of vinyl ribbing did you use? Did you use vinyl ribbing or stretch tubing?
Did you use a chartreuse thread?

Sorry for all the questions I just want to tie some of these up.

How is this possible?!?!?! :-D

Sorry for the delayed responses.

I use nymph size ribbing on size 14 and up, and I use small on 16 and down.

I use chartruse thread on the bright green ones. Then half hitch after I tie it on. Leave a gap for your peacock. then half hitch the chartreause and switch to black thread to tie in the peacock and finish the fly.

did some with nymph head evolution beads. Look kinda cool
