I sold a 6wt line to fellow forum member AFISHN last year late winter. His plan was to use it for Shad on the lower Delaware. I wanted to ask how he made out but have not seen him on here since. Stop in and let us know if you are around sir.

I have caught them on spinning gear late summer on the middle Delaware river and it was a blast. Ripping drag like a good smallmouth

broke the ice with my first shad's of this season today. tough fishing with a rising river and lots of debris.
picked up two bucks in the first half hour of trying and then an hour without a fish and having debris on the darts on every cast sent me home. i'll be back.

got back to the river today. landed 10, some decent leaping roes in the mix. water temp is still a bit chilly at 45 degrees. lots of fish heading upstream. should just get better as the water warms.

several different spots up to Easton, PA and NJ. the fish are pretty much throughout the system now. tons of fish are passing, but the mid forties water temps isn't great for the bite. went 0'fer in a brief attempt today.

I'm only like 8 miles from the point pleasant area. Was thinking about giving it a shot down that way up to around like Frenchtown. What type of water do you target to find them?

i'm close to there too. river pinch points where the channel is within casting distance. they basically run right up the edge. it is very spot specific fishing as far as wading goes. access is becoming harder in that area with more and more No Trespassing signs and very limited parking.

boat fishing is a bit different. boats just anchor right over the seam, drop downriggers with flutter spoons in the fishes face and then "catch" one right after another. not really skilled fishing, but the guides make out well putting fish in the boat for folks who couldn't catch them otherwise. boat caught fish don't count as far as i'm concerned.
