I tried a new (for me) Sally Hansen Top Coat labeled “Dries Instantly.” I had a CVS coupon so I gave it a try. Applies about the same as Hard As Nails. Appears to be about as strong as HAN and dries very quickly. However, when it dries it does not have the shine as the original. Anyone else tried it? Let me know your opinion. I’ll probably stick with the original if I want a shiny finish.

I use the SH top coat over UV resins obtain a permanent gloss finish as I find UV resins to end up being rather dull. I think the gloss of the top coat is pretty good and the rapid drying makes using it convenient. The thin nature of the top coat also prevents any excess, unwanted built up of finish.

I use the normal SH's (and other nail polishes) for traditional "head cement" applications where I need ad durability or build up a layer of finish.

That version is my next bottle on deck. I'll try to remember to report back if I notice much difference

I'm always confused by the various Hard As Nail offerings (Hardener, Strengthener, Top Coat, etc.), so I actually asked the CVS lady for some guidance a couple weeks back when I bought the "Dries Instantly" version. She also had no clue.

I always get the Hard As Nails top coat.

I was getting a pedicure with my wife the other day, and the nail salon used a polish on her that sets with UV light. I found it pretty interesting—if I were still tying flies, I’d definitely give it a try. At just 4 or 5 bucks a bottle, it seems like a cheap and handy material.

Oh, and my pods are officially flip-flop ready! 🩴😎
