Sal and Squatch Together Again

Many of you probably remember Sal (Brian). His family was traveling through my area on their way to Kentucky then down to the Smoky Mountains, and graciously invited me down for a spell. The Smokies are only a 5 hour drive from where I live, so headed down there yesterday morning, and had the opportunity to fish w/ Sal (first time since I moved to WV in 2019). I've been wanting to get to the Smokies for a long time, it is a beautiful place (once you get away from the people!). We barely scratched the surface concerning all the fly fishing opportunities in the park, but it was nice to fish w/ an old PAFF buddy again.

Not much better than getting a chance to fish with an 'old buddy'. I've made the drive from Bristol VA to Ashville area in the fall several times. Absolutely gorgeous.

Nice that you got out with an old friend and nice that you saw the Smokies. I've fished there, but far too briefly and I hope to get back very soon. We have a seasonal place in upstate South Carolina and I'm really not that far away, so I need to make it happen.

One the best aspects of catching time on the water meeting up with old friends.
A few fish, reminiscing of the few fish of the past and telling stories of great memories spent together, priceless.
