Sage Response

Of course, this was in reference to the previous avatar. Nevertheless, I can't believe I said it. I beg pardon.

"if" your vxp is a 9' 4wt, adding a 5 to your quiver won't be earth shattering. In that case, a 6wt might be your next step.

Correct answer (as was don't buy the TCX).

Even though I am a Winston guy I have learned to love fast rods however the TCX just is not one of them. The 6 wt Sage One is the most magical rod I have ever thrown (again having a few thousand $ of Winstons in the rod rack).

Always cast any rod you plan on buying!!!

Wrong. Welcome to them there internetz world. You buy based upon reviews of the rod and the seller, cast the rod and if you have an issue you return the rod (plastic still on handle, no wear, like new). It's the way retail works these days.

I bought the last one of the first six they had in 5/6 Black/Stealth

This was the fly shop I went to when out at Colorado this past summer.

I can't say enough good things about them for the information they gave me for locations.

But I did give them some good natured hell for not having their flies tied locally like FFP
