what lenght rod & line wt. do you like for med. size streams,mine is a 8ft. 4 wt.

Sounds about right to me. If it's really brushy go shorter. 8'6" seems to be a standard size for trout rods.

I tend to go lighter 2-3wt's for me!

depends on what type of fishing you are doing. If you're fishing dries, then an 8-8'6" rod will do fine, if you're nymphing then you want a longer rod like a 9'. I even like longer rods for streamers as you can mend the line a bit easier with them. Minus the brush factor, I use specific rods for what flies I'm throwing first, then adjusting to what size stream I'm on.
