Came by a Redington AS on Ebay as backup for my salmon fishing forays. Excellent reels with strong drags. My son and I each have one and they are tuff Mothers.

I tried to change this one to left hand retrieve as it was set up as right handed when purchased. There is a retainer clip that keeps the bearing in place ( looks like a pentagon) . I removed that but can't remove the bearing. Is there a trick I should know. The process is easy enough, just flop bering--if I can remove it.

The reel is clean, no rust, dirt, sand or grime. How do you remove bering?

Thanks.

Looks like you need the "spool wrench":

Had to root around till I found box from one I already had. Low and behold a spool key. Easy peasy. The schematic helped.

Many thanks
