Recent Rain

.45 inches on my roof in Hershey. I thought it would be more.

Today looks to be the only dry day this weekfor the whole state. Modeling guidance is fairly similar in precip amounts through the weekend. We'll see...

Looks like the storm tracked east. Delaware Valley received about 1.5 inches. The scary thing is how warm the water temps got at Valley Creek after the rainfall. Over 62 degrees.

Yea that’s insane temps. I’d like to get out this evening but It might be packed, or cold and windy.

What a joy this morning!. Bird singing, trees in bud, forsythia blooming and a gentle wind out of the Southeast with a typical April rain.

No, I'll be doing my taxes on opening day. But we have a camp up that way and will probably go up after that. I find it to be pretty indicative of the overall water levels in that area.
Our camp is near Medix Run. We ritually used to go up the weekend after opening weekend. Always had a blast. It fizzled out about 10 years ago.....the old guys got too old and the young guys all got married and had kids. Love it up there though. I go up mid June for a few days just to get over to the First Fork.

I was around a variety of streams today around central PA and I laid eyes on a bunch of different water . Mountain creeks were fine. Actually, you couldn't even tell it rained when you looked at a mountain freestoner. They looked parched like they needed a bigger drink. Some small streams in valleys were blown and muddy, but not terribly blown out. Some of the larger creeks also looked mostly untouched by the water so far, but they had some color.

I believe we are in for more rain tonight. This is great news in my opinion. This will keep a variety of streams at good levels for fishing for a while, and after some sunshine and a warm up hits us, it should be game on in a big way.
