I'd like to see the goose biot bodies and maybe a little explanation to how they are tied on to make a body. Thanks

Most times, turkey biots are longer than goose biots and thus better for body material.

Tute for smooth body biots, usually used for tying dries and emergers:

Tute for tying biot body nymphs with the "fuzzy" side up to imitate gills:

Jumping in here late on this one but i remembered something that might be helpful i didn't read the rest but i'll go back and catch up later. Bob Clouser showed me a way to imitate quill bodies using monocord and dubbing. It works and is tons more durable than an actual quill body. What he did was use a sparse dubbing of the appropriate color and then rib it with a piece of monocord to simulate the segmented bug body. Very simple , ultra durable and the bottom line same effect , i think they float higher and longer than a quill body too. try this you'll like it , looks and action. After reading i was gonna say rafia to Sandys fly body.

Have any of you ever used porcupine quills for bodies? I had a Herters fly tying book growing up that had a section on using porcupine for bodies i think you had to soak them in glycerine or something lost the book or lent it out.

yeah-back when I was into minnie fishing-40 years ago-used all kinds of road kill.

.

I've used them for extended bodies on coffin flies. They look pretty nice, and float well. But they're very stiff. I think they're better materiels for extended bodies out there,

As for the quill gordon bodies, I just use grayish tan dubbing. Simple, durable, and they work quite well
