I have been playing around at the bench lately getting ready for the Salt Jam . Here is a tie I used Farrar's blend with .

Nice looking fly.I like using Steve Farrar's blend. The flies are light
weight material. I enjoy tying saltwater flies, however I don't have much experience fishing in saltwater.

Come to the Saltwater Jam at Sandy Hook there will be plenty of people there to teach you the ropes .

Like it, Fred. Is that a yellow grizzly saddle with SF material tied over it?

Yes its a Yellow grizzly hackle with shrimp colored Farrar's blend around it .

Farrar's Blend is great stuff and I use it for many salt flies these days. Although expensive and messy, it produces a very nice fly with a blended mix of color shade and flash that is very hard to duplicate with other materials. Good stuff.
Nice fly Fred.

Nice fly Fred.

+1 on SF material. It adds color, a little flash, and it gives the fly bulk without adding weight and wind resistance. And as you can see, Fred doesn't mind the mess. :-?
