Probably...there was about a foot of ice on the lake that did not break up when the ice came down Pine. The West Branch is also backed up! I talked to a neighbor who has lived here all his life(69 years) & has never seen it like this.

Galeton is in the process of putting in a fish ladder.

It's been a few years since we've seen this kind of ice flows and jams....and perhaps for some streams, it's the worst in living memory for some locals.

However, it's also worth remembering that ice jams like this were common on our state's waterways in the past. Think of some of the massive ice jams on the Susky around Harrisburg. It's striking to see, but the fish and other ctitters under the ice should be fine.
