Pet Peeve

I know Old Lefty for well over 25 years.

I can't stand when other people stand in doorways and block doorways. Doorways are for going in and out. Seems like a simple concept but there a more tan a few that just don't get it.

They are probably the same people that are either on their way to, or have just stood in the center of the supermarket aisle with their cart, effective blocking everyone else who is trying to shop in that aisle... 😉

OMG, I hate the supermarket with a passion. Land of inconsiderate idiots. They make opening day seem like a Mensa convention.

My mother, God rest her soul, when she was on her death bed the only thing she wanted to do was go to the supermarket??!!!

Or, and this is one of my pet peeves, those people who are the middle of the entrance/exit of a store/parking lot with their car. You know, making it very, very difficult for others to get in while they block everything trying to get out. Hey, keep your car far to the right, people. It makes life sail by a little smoother.

And another driving pet-peeve of mine is this: those people who try to be nice while driving but by doing so they are breaking the rules and the laws of driving, therefore making accidents far more likely. Yeah, those people suck, too. Folks, if we just follow the rules of driving, everything will go much smoother.

As a kid during summer vacation from school, I went food shopping with my mother every week. It was literally the highlight of my breaks and I still love grocery shopping to this day, however...

Between the folks that stop dead in an aisle, come flying out of an aisle or along the end of aisles with carts without looking or hesitating...

It's a challenge to not get pi$$ed off... 😉

Speaking of supermarket pet peeves...

I pretty much never do self check-out with a cart full of groceries (or almost ever) so I am in line waiting my turn...

Behind the entire frikkin' Brady Bunch with Mike, Carol, Alice, Greg, Peter, Bobby, Marcia, Jan & Cindy all standing in line so I can't start putting my $#!+ on the belt until the entire menagerie vacates the check-out aisle....

What's up with that??? Why do people bring their entire family to the store??? What, no Tiger??

And to make matters worse, they are always the type who wait until EVERYTHING is rung up and bagged and in the cart before they will open their purse, look for their wallet and take out their credit or debit card to scan... 😡

Jumpin jiminy Alice, scan your bloody card after the first item is rung up...

AND DON"T ASK FOR CASH BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pennsylvanians aren't known for being polite. Block me from an aisle or doorway and find out I embrace the stereotype of " impolite Pennsylvanian".

Two for me. Driving on a street and someone pulls out right in front of me and I look in the rearview mirror and there is no one is behind me. Couldn't they have waited a few seconds before pulling out?

The second one is ballpoint pens that skip when you use them.

Same here, except unlike now, if I was acting like a hellion in the store, it wasn't the other customers that I'd need to fear. All 5'2" of my mother had no issue putting me (and my little brother) back in line.

Now it's like the circus with kids running wild. I usually come home, bring everything in, and crack a beer to calm myself.

I do the majority of my food shopping at Walmart which is a whole other adventure...

The good news is a good portion of it cracks me up and they sell worms...

Last weekend we were in a Shoprite in N.J. (Did I ever mention that I hate that state, on a lot of levels?) I'm pushing the cart down the aisle and some joker comes down another aisle (T intersect) backwards and backs right into the middle of the cart that I'm pushing. He then proceeds to say to me: "You're good." like I was at fault.

What I hate is when they walk in and stop in the middle to survey things. Move off to the side if you're going to do that.

From the perspective of opening day fishing, or Erie steelhead fishing, or the "glory days" at Fishermans Paradise, 10-20 yards is a lot of room.
One thing that taught me patience and tolerance of other anglers was fishing the Little Lehigh Heritage section from the bank. It was often crowded. But those fishing were overwhelmingly well mannered. One could easily cast completely across the stream but very common to have an angler opposite you. Etiquette was to alternat cast and stall mostly on your side of the creek. This all seemed to disappear when they opened it up to wading. Now just a few waders can dominate the stream.
