FWIW, the what, $100 I think I spent, has been well worth it.
I've got a much more capable device to use, but there's a convienece to having a camera with you at all times (a thing I've been threatening to do for the last 15 years, I think).
Anyways, I've used it a few times to just grab a quick snap of something, and I can offer up these examples of the WS80:
Normal use, generic "simple" mode, AWB:
Thrust under water, and just flailing on the button... In "underwater" mode, AWB:
Yes, its not fishing, but work with me... Outside, AWB, "macro" mode...This guy's base is about 1.5" diameter to give you an idea of size.
More "macro," inside with incandescent WB:
Last one, it was pitch black so it was a matter of align in general area, and snap picture. I'm surprised with how well it turned out being what I can assume acting as a pretty much fixed focal point:
I've always been happy with Pentax optics, this is no exception. Its dirt cheap, small, and light. The one MAJOR drawback is there's no lens cover for it, in otherwords the clear plastic that the lens actually lives behind is always exposed, and that almost seems like its begging ot be scratched.
If you've got a few bucks to drop, and you just want an all-around simple, beater camera to carry in your fishing stuff, you really can't beat this thing.
