I bought a pack of klinkhammer x-treme hooks in a size 20 last year. They were brittle and broke in the vise, but I've been told good things about the bigger sizes. Anyone have any idea how the sizing goes? I have the 20's that seem to be a 16. And a pack of 14's that seem to be about a 10. Is there a scale anywhere?
Thanks,
Kev

Those hooks run quite large. I would say 3 sizes larger (18 would equate to a 12). This is a purposeful design as the Klinkhamer represents a nymph emerging into an adult. So essentially the fly is capturing that transitional moment where the insect is half nymph half adult but stretched in size.

Yeah they are huge! I couldnt believe how big they were. Thanks for the info.

Partridge has marketed two different Klinkhamer hooks: the 15BN and the 15BNX. The 15BN was ridiculously large; the newer 15BNX are four sizes smaller.
