Made an after dinner trip to my local lake last night. Amazingly uncrowded though a young boy was yelling almost the whole time while his parents did nothing; something my parents would never have allowed. No one was fishing in the immediate area around the dock which was unusual on any night. Made my way to the flooded roadbed which at least put me some distance from the noise.
My rig was a very light 3 wt. with a popper on 4x and an ant dropper on 5x. They (Blue gills) were crushing the ant from the first cast on. That said, I did catch a couple smallish bass and a few nice gills on the popper. Ant out fished the popper probably 6-1. Had a blast though only fished for about an hour starting about 8:15. Wet wading was easy and I do it enough that it is a pretty simple prep. Also helped cool my core temp. Back home by 9:30, happy and pleasantly tired.
