Hello all,
I am looking for some guidance regarding the fishing regs that would impact fly fishing some streams in the central area (State College, Altoona, etc.) from March 20-24. I will check the PFBC site but wanted to get some direct info from local, knowledgable anglers about any closed waters leading up to opening day.
Thanks for any suggestions....

Anything that is special regulation is open.

Anything that is listed as approved trout water (i.e. stocked somewhere along it's length), or downstream of such, but not under special regulations will be closed to all fishing.

That leaves the headwaters with wild trout which are not stocked anywhere along the streams length (class A or otherwise). The regs here are a bit muddy. The general consensus is that yes, you can fish them, but only on a C&R basis, and the PFBC isn't exactly encouraging that people fish them or even know that it is indeed legal to do so.
