Just saw my first one on the back porch đź‘Ť. If you had September 2nd on your scorecard, pick up your money. Seems a bit early to me

I saw a few Oct caddis on the East Br Delaware after dark a few days ago which is when they seem most active. I.also had a 2in Golden Stone on the side of the camper which I normally see hatching around Memorial Day. Hatches are all over the place. Isos are coming off and should get better this week. Isos are my favorite fall hatch. Al Cauccu referred to them as cheeseburgers.

Call it the Great Brown Autumn Sedge. The month of October has nothing to do with it.
Here's one on my TV screen on August 18th!

I have never seen a real hatch of October Caddis. I see them here and there along edges of streams. I have never seen a trout eat one. Maybe I am in the wrong places? Does anyone really fish this hatch?
It's a good looking caddis for sure.

Yes, I do fish it. It's primarily a night time hatch, but a few stragglers start to appear in the late afternoon, and the fish are clearly aware of them.

I once hit a nice hatch of them during the evening on the Little J.
And actually in October

Happened on a cold drizzly day, during which I fished a fantastic BWO hatch all afternoon.
The olives started to peter out about 5pm, and I thought I was done for the day.
As I was working my way back to the truck, I started to see some fish making violent slashes on the surface
And saw a few of the huge bugs coming off here and there.

Guess the cold drizzly weather fooled them into thinking it was dark
