October 5, 2012 - Chesapeake Energy pleaded guilty in federal court today to 3 violations of the Clean Water Act, admitting it had dumped 60 tons of crushed stone and gravel into the Blake Fork stream on three different occasions in 2008. Contractors hired by Chesapeake discharged gravel from dump trucks into Blake Fork when developing access roads to a natural gas drilling site in Wetzel County. Each violation carries a $200,000 fine, so Chesapeake will pay a total of $600,000. The company will also be placed on probation and supervised by the court for two years.

that still isnt a good restoration, creek restoration work looks like crap, West Virginia suffers severely from Mountain top coal strip mine removal ...really sad considering they have some really great country an had some really great trout streams

it's sad how they just throw money at issues like this and then conclude; problem solved, no harm done. Once it's gone or altered from it's original, natural state there is no going back. Its irrevocable, which is why nature needs protection not "restoration work." just sad.

Ok, So what can we the individual flyfisherman do to turn back time and help restore some of these destroyed areas?

^ by not letting it happen again...and again...and again...
