Shore fishing/fish activity update....

Fished daily over the past two weeks. While bait fish were reported to be quite visible in the surf to the north, I did not see any until the middle of this past week in the surf. Mullet cast netters were active in Corson's Inlet and were struggling to find the fish last week, but this past week mullet schools were quite visible and abundant.

Late this week in conjunction with the appearance of many mullet schools in the inlet, striper action picked up very close to the inlet's shoreline on the surface.

Both the surf and the inlet were producing snapper blues in abundance over the two weeks, generally in the 8-11 inch range with an occasional ( very occasional) 12 incher. The surf produced lower numbers, but better avg size as well as some larger outliers up to 17 inches long. An abundance of aquatic plant fragments in the water column was problematic on a number of days.

Trigger fish are still present, as are flounder. There was limited smooth dogfish activity and some anglers were "bothered" by small black sea bass at times. Water temp was 71-72 deg F.
