Don't let the poor water conditions or cold weather stop your smallie season. I was fishing the north branch of Susquehan which is still pretty cloudy but I found some clear water where a tributary dumped in and sure enough in the slack water they were there. I used a 4" unweighted minnow pattern fished on a short 4ft leader with an intermediate line. Hopefully this pattern will continue for a few weeks.

This is one of the absolute best times of the year for fishing smallies rivers. Less people, excellent fishing, and crisp air....the only problem is is that it is also duck season....
