No early opener for Southeastern counties

I don't know if this was posted somewhere else, but there will be no early opener for the SE this year. Trout season will open statewide on Apr 18. Also they do not want the public to participate in the stockings so as not to congregate people.
 
I think it’s completely stupid, the difference of 2 weeks does what? The handful of guys who come out to stock is no different than a supermarket line and it’s outside.

I'm not a big fan of opening day, stocking/dumping, etc. Having said that, how long has there been a split opening day? I'm not THAT old, but for what I'm sure is most of my life there was only one opening day.

I understand the significance of opening day reaches beyond catching fish: tradition, getting together with family & friends, shaking off the drear of winter, and so on. I suspect we will all adapt quickly to the change in opening day and if/when it changes back.

Pardon the pun, but there are bigger fish to fry now.
