Good stuff. It's nice to see so many salt flies and saltwater reports here on PAFF the last couple years. It's not that there weren't salt guys on the forum three or four years ago - just that the topic of salt fishing and tying rarely came up. Things have changed - and much for the better IMO.

Nice looking ties . With a long tail like that are they prone to foul ?

Maybe but I super glues a section of the tail to try to prevent it. But it takes away the action of the fly.

Have you tried maybe tying a mono loop in the back under the tail it might help a little .

Na you make a good point maybe the next ones I do.

Or you can tie a clump of bucktail on each side of the shank at the end it will be sure to stop the tail from coming back over to the hook and I think it would save you some action in the tail . If you look at the last pic in this thread you can have a idea about what i'm talking about .

Most of them have white bucktail tied under the to represent the white belly of an eel. I only super glues one flies. I guess we will see. And hopefully the bigger fish will like them as much as they like I live eel I toss at night. The thing looks like a real live eel when in the water, the way it movies and everything. My main goal it to catch a 20 pound+ fish this fall on the fly. I take most of my big fish on live eels so why not try a big nasty eel fly. Better then dealing with the live ones to.

I don't have any eel patterns in my arsenal you bring up a good point on how big bass love eels . I'm still trying to get one over 30" this year I keep falling short but hope to get that goal this fall. Maybe I might be able to bribe one off of you at the salt jam this year. Whats your price ?

0.00 dollars. I have so many flies it doesent hurt to give a few out. Just keep it On the DL. Can't be giving all my snakes out. Haha
