Neoprene Booties or Size Down Boots For Wet Wading?

Ive been wearing guard socks with my cleated boots and just normal hiking socks with my non-cleated boots for my kayak. Tired to not wear booties with my cleated ones but they are just to big for that.

As for ticks, ive been beating them by wearing a compression layer. Quick dry active layer under everything, very tight, but wicks sweat quickly and acts like a 2nd skin. Long sleeve tops and bottoms, only hands and neck are really exposed, Wont stop horse flies and mosquitoes but ticks, chiggers and biting gnats yes. Also, that feeling when you strip it off its like being born again.

Ok. Was not trying to hijack thread, was wondering if there was a new way to contract Lyme. Ticks are horrible in WV this year. I’ve pulled 14 off in last 3 months. I treat my clothes with Permethrin but I’ve had them get under untreated jersey gloves, waistband of untucked (but treated) shirts & pants & lower legs by socks/boots. I fear that the Sawyers treatment has diluted due to my sweating heavily in my treated clothes. In their defense, I’ve been in fields of high grass & forest edges cutting firewood. Except for one, none have been deer ticks & I’ve managed to remove them within few hours of exposure. Thanks.
Don't what to hijack, but there are more diseases to worry about than Lyme/deer ticks that are hard to treat. Lyme is simple doxycycline treatment ... that is unless it get very advanced

In summer, I wear white , cotton athletic Sox under my neoprene sox.
I always wear wick dry, long pants and " seal" everything with gravel guards over my pants cuff to help keep out small debris.
This works pretty well for me.
Depending on the day, I keep an extra pair of insoles if I feel the need for supplemental snugness.
