The Bad Mother mouse fly that they talk about on Troutbitten is basically this but with a piece of foam behind the deer hair head to help it float while the back rides just under the surface. I’m gonna tie some after Christmas when I can open the box of materials I got myself.

Oh yes many names for muddlers and wooly bugger variations. My favorite mouse is thick deer hair wide ramp style head with tips left on spun deer hair on the back/collar. Behind that I like palmered back marabou body with marabou tail. Add rubber legs if you like. Caught hundreds of fish in those at night
