The PA Council of Trout Unlimited (PATU) is pleased to announce the Coldwater Conservation Corps (CCC) training session on February 12, 2011, Washington County, at the Chartiers Twp. Municipal Social Building.

This training will be hosted by the Chestnut Ridge Chapter of Trout Unlimited, the Washington County Conservation District and the Washington County Watershed Alliance.

This training session will cover topics ranging from basic environmental concerns of gas extraction in the Marcellus Shale to hands-on water quality sampling. If you are a coldwater fisherman and/or have concerns about Marcellus Shale gas drilling in your area, this daylong training will cover all aspects of gas drilling and what you, as an angler, hunter, or concerned citizen can do to look after your local environment.

Educational materials, water quality sampling kits for the chapter and lunch will be provided at the training session. Please plan to attend and help to ensure that our water resources are better protected.

To register, email dsewak@tu.org or call 814.659.1772.

Directions to the training session will be provided upon registration.

University of Pittsburgh is offering a similar class (free). It will also track results of the samplings.

Wife has the details...I'll have her post them later.

This one is for Training in the Clearfield County, Dubois area. Link to article and number for that chapter of Trout Unlimited.

Wouldn't happen to know if anything like this is going on in NY by any chance do you? I would really like to attend but live considerably far away.

ws, there probably is. These symposiae are popping up all over. You can even find meetings of Marcellus Shale supporters. I would google around, search some local on-line papers, etc. You'll turn something up, then go from there.

I attended one of the training sessions last weekend. It was very informative, and I encourage all of you to attend one if given the chance.

Albud, check your inbox.
